VDSR 2.2.0 – Update

July 30, 2019

STW is proud to announce the release of a new version of VDSR and with it a set of new features to take advantage of the soon to be released TCG4 Telematics module.

DM1 Error Codes

The detection of J1939 DM1 messages is enabled by default. Users can now create log files that contain all their alarm information including DM1. Simply ensure that your configuration profile has the “Alarm Transmission” feature enabled and you have the properties set. This can be done in the Data Config Section of your profile.

Device Settings

The configuration Profiles section has been extended to include device-specific settings that were not available for configuration remotely in previous versions of the VDSR application.

The new device settings include:

  • CAN bus bitrate
  • Static/DHCP Ethernet settings
  • Sleep Mode settings
  • Input/Output configuration (TCG4 only)

Sleep Mode

We have added a new mode of operation to our Telematics modules. When the ignition or D+ pin is turned off the device is instructed to go into a “sleep” state, Basically, all chips and modules on the unit are turned off to reduce energy consumption. User can trigger this sleep state by pre-configuring how often the device should wake up and the time it stays awake before it goes back to sleep. The TCG device will remain in this sleep mode until the ignition switch is back on.

Moreover, a new type of Log job allows users to collect specific information from the module during this sleep state. For instance, a new TCG4 device can be configured to go into sleep mode and wake up every 4 hours and collect 5 minutes worth of GPS information before it goes back to sleep.

I/O Configuration (TCG4 only)

VDSR now supports a simple remote configuration of the 4 multipurpose inputs and the 2 Analog/Digital Outputs available on the TCG4.

Filter Bar

Among other graphical enhancements, we have added a filter Bar in many of the pages to help users sort through the list of devices and help them find specific units based on different filter options such as device status, group name, device type, and software version.
